Connecting the Gap

Connecting the Gap is a 501c3 organization that empowers youth and young adults who are grieving the loss of a parent or guardian by creating intentional connections to enable a healthy and optimistic future. The uniqueness of our organization is that we help children and young adults cope with their grief during the most difficult time of their lives. We believe by tackling grief head-on with an individualized holistic approach, children and their families can maintain normal activities at home, school, and in their local community.

Student Spotlight / Meet Chris

Christopher was referred to Connecting the Gap by his older sister who lives in Charlotte. Christopher was 18 years old when his mom and grandmother passed away in a car accident in November of 2020. Christopher was in the car and walked away with minor physical bruises. However, his mom and grandmother did not survive. Since being connected with our organization, Christopher began seeing a therapist and gained assistance for his educational needs during his last semester in high school. After joining our TIS Program we have been able to provide basic college needs and assist with his overall health and wellness. Christopher is now currently studying at East Carolina University.
